So often when people think about coaching, they think of life, business, or leadership aka executive coaching. But did you know that coaching has been proven to help support people in ultimately any area of their lives and that includes trauma recovery?
Just like therapists, a coach needs to be trained in trauma informed practice, for example Internal Family Systems (IFS), as was the case of my coach who I turned to after leaving my marriage of fifteen years to begin to face my complex childhood trauma.
In fact, research has shown that IFS therapy "had significantly positive effects on adults with PTSD and histories of exposure to multiple forms of childhood trauma".
This is why I felt it was essential to have a segment on coaching during the Trauma & Healing podcast series.
Not only will you hear the profound wisdom of Dr. Guthrie Sayen, my IFS coach, but two other coaches I've worked with over the last six years. Each of them have had a profound impact on my trauma recovery, not to mention held me accountable for the work I've desired to birth in the world, such as my book.
So make sure you tune in tomorrow (Friday) for this episode, and check out our first episode, Beyond Trauma: Healing as a Pathway to an Abundant Joy Filled Life here.
